Should your tree be trimmed, or removed altogether?

If you’re not sure what to do for your tree, here are a few guidelines that will help you decide:

If a few branches are growing into your house or power lines, or some of them are dead, it’s probably time to get your tree trimmed.

But if the tree is too large for its location, and you would need to take off the entire top in order to make it fit, it should be removed. Grosh’s Lawn Service doesn’t offer tree topping, because topping of trees causes stress and disease, can lead to sunburn, creates hazards, and makes the tree look ugly.

In the long run, it’s better to simply remove the tree and replace it with a variety that’s better suited for that location. That way, it can mature to its full size and beauty without becoming a problem. When we remove one of your trees, we will plant a new one in its place, so your yard remains beautiful.

All of our tree work will be completed by a MD Licensed Tree Expert, and performed to industry standards and in a professional manner. We will treat your trees, your property, and you with the utmost respect, and go above and beyond to make sure that your trees receive the best possible care.

If you know someone who has a problem tree, or whose trees need a trim, you can bless then with helping them with the trees, and we’ll take care of the whole project for them.

Contact Grosh's Lawn Service now by e-mail to schedule your tree trimming and/or tree remova consultation.

Please note that we are not a "cut rate tree service", because we provide only top-quality care, and we’d never be content to give you or your trees less than the best!

When should you take your hummingbird feeders down here in the Hagerstown MD area?

A common myth says that if you leave your feeders up too long, hummingbirds will fail to migrate. This is simply not true. Hummingbirds migrate due to environmental cues. Every so often some will overwinter in Maryland. These birds either were blown off course or are inexperienced youngsters.

After October 1st, if you don't see any signs of hummingbirds visiting for 2 weeks, then it is usually safe to take down your feeders.
